Back to School Retreat on August 12, 2023, at Miramar Multi-Complex Center 6700 Miramar Parkway, Miramar, FL 33023. From 11:00
AM- 4 PM.
We are looking to establish meaningful partnerships in our community to ensure that DCFTS can continue assisting children in education
and the community.
DCFTS is making a significant impact on the mental and physical health of children and families in Broward, Miami Dade, and Palm Beach
Counties through its annual Children of the Lotus Back to School Retreat. The organization's holistic approach to "back to school" is
impressive, providing self-discovery tools such as trauma-informed mindfulness, yoga, taichi, qigong, and reiki. By focusing on
mindfulness and holistic well-being, the foundation is helping families prepare for a successful school year.
The pandemic has exacerbated challenges to children's mental health and well-being, with many losing access to school-based services
and support. The workshops and activities offered at the retreat are essential in helping children and their families manage stress,
depression, and anxiety, and improve academic performance and overall well-being. The organization's goal is to provide a range of free
workshops for children and teens ages 5 to 18 and their parents.
DCFT’S commitment to the community is evident from its track record of serving over 4,000 children and youth and disbursing over 3,000
backpacks in the past ten years. The theme of this year's event, "I AM Love," is a beautiful reminder of the importance of love, kindness,
and compassion towards oneself and others.
