Shelter to Soldier as I am a proud member of their Be the Light Gala committee this year. Shelter to Soldier is a CA 501c3 nonprofit organization that adopts dogs from local shelters and trains them to become psychiatric service dogs for post-9/11 veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress (PTS), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and/or Military Sexual Trauma (MST). The program also places emotional support animals (ESAs) with active duty military and veterans, and deploys the Shelter to Soldier Canine Ambassadors, a team of certified therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers, to provide no-cost visits of love and comfort to local military, veterans and their families. You may have seen their ambassador team on the San Diego Padres Paw Squad this year or last, and all around the community supporting our local active duty military and veterans.

The 11th Annual Be The Light Gala is presented by Subaru and hosted at L'Auberge Del Mar on Friday, August 18th. Two-hundred (200) guests will gather to celebrate the impact of the Shelter to Soldier program and raise funds, with a $225,000 goal, to support our dedication to homeless dogs and veterans in need.
