Description

DCFTS has been at the forefront of positively influencing the mental and physical health of children and families in Broward, Miami
Dade, and Palm Beach Counties through our annual Children of the Lotus Back to School Retreat. Our holistic approach to "back to
school" preparations is nothing short of impressive. We offer an array of self-discovery tools such as trauma responsive mindfulness,
yoga, taichi, qigong, and reiki, empowering families with the necessary skills to successfully navigate the challenges of a new school
year.
This year we are embracing the solar plexus chakra and the theme is “I AM POWERFUL.” Empowering youth and teens to recognize
their inherent power is vital for their development as it cultivates self-confidence, resilience, independence, leadership skills, healthy
relationships, and goal achievement, thereby laying the foundation for their personal growth and ability to positively contribute to
society. These workshops can benefit parents and guardians by providing them with insights, skills, and support to understand,
communicate, and foster empowerment in their children, thereby enhancing parent-child relationships and facilitating their children's
overall development.
Our primary objective is to offer a diverse range of free age appropriate workshops catered to children and teens aged 5 to 18, along
with their parents. We firmly believe in the power of inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring that every family can benefit from our retreat's
transformative experiences. Over the past 11 years, DCFTS has served over 4,300 children and youth, distributing more than 3,300
backpacks filled with essential school supplies. Our commitment to the community is unwavering, and we are determined to continue
making a lasting impact in the lives of those we serve.
In light of the ongoing pandemic, children's mental health and well-being have faced unprecedented challenges. Many have lost access
to vital school-based services and support systems, leaving them vulnerable to increased stress, depression, and anxiety. The
workshops and activities we provide at the retreat play a vital role in helping children and their families effectively manage these issues,
improving academic performance and overall well-being. By joining forces with DCFTS, you will directly contribute to creating a healthier
and happier future for our community's youth.
We sincerely request your support as a Community Partner for our 11th Annual Children of the Lotus Back to School Retreat. By
aligning your organization with DCFTS, you will not only enhance your reputation as a champion of positive change but also become an
integral part of an event that embodies hope, resilience, and community empowerment.
We extend a warm invitation to join us in this meaningful endeavor as a sponsor, donor, or volunteer. Together, we can create a brighter
future for our community, one child at a time.
Thank you for your kind consideration and ongoing support. We eagerly anticipate the opportunity to collaborate with you in making our
11th Annual Children of the Lotus Retreat an even greater success.
