Description

We are requesting support in the form a monetary donation for our 10th Annual Texas Kabuki Gathering to be held in San Antonio, Texas on October of 2024. Last October, we were able to get more than 30 Kabuki families together to gather support, share stories, network, and learn about medical advancements that can aid in the treatment of our children. Kabuki syndrome is a rare genetic disorder. Children/adults affected by Kabuki experience a variety of symptoms which may include: mild to moderate intellectual impairment, growth retardation, low muscle tone, feeding difficulties, heart defects, cleft palate, skeletal abnormalities, communication delays and distinctive behaviors. Kabuki Syndrome affects each individual differently.

Once again in October of this year we will meet at Morgan’s Wonderland Camp, a retreat for special needs families. This once in a lifetime opportunity will allow our children to participate in activities led by trained staff with the use of adaptive equipment, surrounded by their Kabuki brothers, sisters, and an extended network of family and caregivers.

We are seeking monetary donations to cover financial aspects associated with planning, lodging, food, and activities to provide these to our attendees that otherwise may not get this opportunity. We would like all attendees to have the opportunity to attend our gathering and have the chance to educate parents and other family members on medical advancements, possible treatment options, and study opportunities and results. The work of these researchers and study opportunities presented at the camp is crucial to the betterment of medical interventions and services, and in turn, the quality of life for our loved ones.
