13th Annual Empty Bowls
Gala/Party for Food Bank of Eastern MichiganSep 16, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
In 1990, Mr. John Hartom, a Michigan high school art teacher created a way for his students to raise funds for a food drive. Students made clay bowls for a fundraising meal. Guests were served a simple meal of soup and bread and were invited to keep the bowl as a reminder of hunger in the world. The following year, this concept evolved into Empty Bowls, a project to support food banks, soup kitchens, and other organizations that fight hunger. For the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and many other food banks across the country, this has become a signature fundraising event. Join us on Thursday September 16, 2021 for our 13th Annual Empty Bowls Event.
A $30 ticket entitles you to a simple meal of soup, bread, and dessert from a variety of local chefs and restaurants. As a souvenir and reminder of the prevalance of hunger in our community, you will be able to choose a one-of-a-kind handmade pottery bowl, created by local artisans.
The event also includes, live music, cooking demos, local celebrity servers, online auction and raffle.
