ABOUT ICPSD:
ICPSD believes people grow and thrive together and strives to empower and entrust communities to be at the center of their own development. All funds raised will go towards the three programs ICPSD currently supports in Togo:

1) Ecosystem Restoration Program (ERP): At the heart of ERP is a native plant nursery. This nursery is the primary platform from which ERP supports traditional agroforesty systems, reforestation and afforestation efforts, and to foster citizen science and understanding of climate change mitigation and adaptation measures. Togo is one of the top five countries in the world for rate of deforestation and as a result has less than five percent of the land remaining forested. The ERP model focuses first on collecting local information through surveys, focus groups, in-person interviews, local partnerships and document analysis in order to to understand the political, social, economic, and technical dimensions of ecological restoration. Second, partnerships are built and supported between local, regional and international groups. Third, knowledge sharing is done through training and education workshops, high school science programs, volunteerism and more - efforts which are led by local and regional community members.

2) Youth Community Development Program (YCDP): This program is designed to facilitate leadership development that supports the personal and professional growth of participants. It supports local middle and high school aged students as they explore ways to build local capacity, self-reliance, and knowledge for the betterment and sustainability of their community. As a group, students elect peer leadership as well as the leadership initiatives they would like to learn about and share with the community. YCDP participants are regularly involved in participating in and supporting the efforts of ERP.

3) Experiential Learning Program: This program facilitates the learning of participants from around the world through cross cultural exchange with communities in Africa. Participants work alongside local communities on improvement projects selected by community members. Participants also learn about the ecological environment, history, and culture of the community and region the visit, with emphasis on anti-racist and anti-white savior contexts in interactions and processing of experiences. All projects are prioritized by the local community members and what they determine as their needs.
