Description

Who doesn’t enjoy combining fun and charity? We certainly do! To this end, Promise Community Homes respectfully asks you to “chip-in” for our second-largest, annual fundraiser – the Chip In for the Promise of Home Golf Tournament. Funds raised allow us to continue to provide the health and security that only comes with the comfort of home for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Taking place on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at The Courses at Forest Park for the second year in a row, this anticipated event is lively, full of good sport and humor, and of course… fun!

The golf tournament begins with breakfast and registration is at 9am, with a shotgun start at 10am. Lunch and beverages will be provided throughout play, and golfers will be able to purchase a "SuperPass" that includes a liquor tasting station, shot on a golf cannon, and a hand-rolled cigar. Around 3pm, the fun wraps up with an appetizer reception with raffles and prizes.

For more than fifty years, Promise Community Homes has ensured adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities have comfortable neighborhood homes that are safe and accessible. All residences must meet their unique, evolving needs so this highly vulnerable population can thrive within their communities and age in place, which the CDC defines as the ability to live in one’s own home and community safely, independently, and comfortably, regardless of age, income, or ability level. Promise Community Homes manages mortgages to keep residents’ expenses low, maintains the structure and land, makes ongoing and emergency repairs, and conducts renovations as needed, such as lowered kitchen counters and sinks, widened doorways, and walk-in/wheel-in showers.

According to the CDC, 30% of Missouri’s overall adult population has some type of disability. In 2023, the annual average income for a person receiving the SSI benefit is only $10,968, which puts this vulnerable population at 25% below the poverty level, while their healthcare and housing costs are much higher than the average adult. The need for accessible, affordable far outweighs the availability, with waiting lists often years-long, and hundreds of people forced into hospitals, jails, and still-existing institutions.

Only with community support can we continue to operate, maintain, and make fundamental updates to more than 80 properties throughout the St. Louis area. Funds raised through our golf tournament allow us to continue to provide the health and security that only comes with the comfort of home.  As such, we respectfully request your participation or gift of donated gift certificates, merchandise, or services to use as incentives for golfers to participate. It all helps generate vital funding to deliver stability and independence to nearly 300 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in affordable, specialized homes for life.

Your company will be recognized on our website, social media post with a reach of up to 15K, and featured in email messaging with a reach of up to 2K. We anticipate approximately 150 golfers to participate this year, many of whom are business and community leaders, allowing for exposure for your company and brand through your donation.

Thank you for your time and consideration!
