15th Annual Lab Amore
Gala/Party for Labrador RescuersSep 21, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Labrador Rescuers (LR) is a 100% volunteer-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2004 to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home stray, abandoned and unwanted Labrador Retrievers and Lab mixes, including shelter dogs and dogs relinquished by their owners because of age, health, financial or other reasons. LR is known for rescuing dogs who have medical, surgical and other special needs that shelters, other rescues or owners are unable or unwilling to address. LR provides for those needs with the goal of making it possible for each dog to be adopted into a loving forever home. LR has saved over 4,800 dogs since its formation.
LR operates three programs:
- The Three Rs (Rescue, Rehabilitate, Rehome). LR rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes stray, abandoned and unwanted dogs, with the goal of saving as many dogs as possible from over-crowded shelters, abandonment and potential euthanization.
- Second Chances for Senior Dogs. Senior dogs have a positive impact on quality of life and teach us patience, responsibility, respect, loyalty and unconditional love. Every senior dog deserves to live his or her golden years, months, weeks, days or hours surrounded by love, security and peace. No old dog should die alone and afraid. While young, healthy dogs have a good chance of adoption, seniors often languish, with little or no interest from the general public. The shelters with whom LR works know LR volunteers have a very big heart for seniors. LR regularly takes in seniors that other rescues pass by because of age and/or medical issues. For seniors with treatable medical issues, LR provides the veterinary and other care required to restore them to health. They are lovingly cared for in foster homes until they are adopted out to approved forever homes. Seniors with insurmountable medical problems are welcomed into LR's Lifeboat Labs program.
- Lifeboat Labs Hospice Care. When dogs come to LR with insurmountable medical problems, they are placed on Lifeboat Lab status and lovingly cared for in permanent foster homes. Each Lifeboat Lab's needs, including medical and dental care, are provided for during the remainder of his or her life. LR does not want any dog to spend his or her final days, weeks or months on a cold shelter floor
Labrador Rescuers' largest fundraising event of the year, the Lab Amore Gala, will include cocktails, a gourmet dinner, live and silent auctions, opportunity drawings and a performance by Pulse, Live Art with Heart. There are many ways for you or your company to become involved, from donating goods, services or gift cards, to becoming a sponsor, all of which offer tremendous exposure to some of San Diego's most prominent people.
Donors will be recognized in auction materials, event programs, social media, email blasts to over 10,000 supporters, and via other means as donors may request.
