Description

To Whom It May Concern:

We are writing to request your support for our Squadron’s major fundraising event. 872 Squadron’s Annual Spaghetti Dinner and Auction will take place on December 3rd, 2022 at the John G. Mlacak Community Centre, 2500 Campeau Drive , Kanata. We are requesting your support this year either by becoming one of our corporate sponsors or through a donation of a product/service or a gift certificate to be used in our LIVE or SILENT Auction. To show our appreciation, all sponsors and donors will have their businesses promoted as outlined on the reverse side of this letter.

Our 16th Annual Spaghetti Dinner brings over 160 cadets, parents and members of the community together for a fun and delicious dinner combined with a live and silent auction, door prizes and more. From 2016 to 2019 we SOLD OUT seats for this event!

This year is the 43rd anniversary of 872 Kiwanis Kanata Air Cadet Squadron operating in Kanata. To this day Cadets remains one of Canada’s premiere youth organizations. Last year even with being under COVID protocols we had over 180 members in our Squadron, ages 12-18, who are engaged in as many as three or four activities weekly, in addition to training camps at the end of the year. The goal of this program is to provide cadets with the opportunity to develop as individuals and team players, to enhance their knowledge related to flight and flying, to contribute to their community through volunteer service and participation in Remembrance Day and similar activities, and to grow into responsible young Canadians and the future leaders of our country.

The cost of running this program in a full non-Covid year is significant; in 2018/19 it was over $150,000. We received approximately $30,000 in funding from DND which leaves us with a fundraising requirement of roughly $120,000. This year we anticipate a similar number of cadets and therefore a similar fundraising amount. These funds go towards such things as: rental of schools/community halls, supplies, buses to and from events, training and administration, weekend-long outdoor training activities, Air Cadet League fees, first aid training, and a host of other activities designed to bring out the best in our cadets. We ask that you consider making a donation to this very worthy cause.

As part of promoting businesses who support this event, we will be providing a program of the evening events including a list of all auction items and sponsors for all who attend. In order to ensure that we can get your information in our program and on signage at the event, we request all sponsorship and donations be submitted by NO later than November23 rd , 2022. For more information on how you can participate in either the event or the sponsorship, please contact members of the Spaghetti Dinner Committee:
