20-years Anniversary Fundraising Gala
Gala/Party for Scandinavian School In San Francisco/ The Scandinavian School and Cultural CenterFeb 11, 2023 from 7:00 PM to 11:30 PM
On February 11, The Scandinavian School & Cultural Center is hosting a gala and fundraiser at the Swedish-American Hall in San Francisco. At the event, we will go public with the capital campaign #SSCCTogether.
The money raised will be used for our newly expanded campus. In focus for 2023 is renovating the +30-year-old kitchen where the school chef prepares climate-friendly and plant-based meals for the students in preschool.
The event is a great opportunity to market your products and brand in person to our American-Scandinavian community in San Francisco and the Bay Area. We expect around 150 guests at the gala but will reach far more through our social media channels and newsletter.
In general, our community is middle class with an active outdoor lifestyle and interest in food and travels. Many are families with small kids, but we also have a growing group of middle-aged students who want to learn a new language or participate in cultural events.
We are open to customized partnerships with donors to optimize visibility.
Background
The Scandinavian School was founded in 2002 by a group of Scandinavian parents in San
Francisco. The School is created on the fundamental Scandinavian values of democracy,
gender equality, progressive thought, global citizenship, experiential learning,
empathy, sustainability, intrapreneurship, and inclusion. Our school is the first
Scandinavian language and cultural immersion school in the U.S. We experienced growth
and expansion as our reputation spread among Bay Area communities, and in 2006,
driven by demand, we began offering cultural workshops and language classes for all
ages. Since 2006 we have served around 2,500 adult language learners, offering classes
in Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, and Finnish.
Each year, the full-time preschool program (ages 2-5) continues to thrive at its San
Francisco location with 45 enrolled children. Currently more than 50% of our preschool
clientele are not Scandinavians but choose our school due to our Emilia Reggio pedagogy,
our outdoor focus and our value based learning environment. We are also serving 75
children (ages 5-10) in the language program through after school classes and provide 15
cultural events and 85 language classes in the San Francisco and Menlo Park locations,
as well as virtually.
