2020 Dominican Gala
Gala/Party for The Sisters of St. Dominic of AmityvilleOct 23, 2020 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM
The Sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville, a religious community of over 300 members, began in 1853 when four Sisters left Regensburg, Germany to minister to German immigrants in Most Holy Trinity Parish, Williamsburg, New York. From this small beginning in Brooklyn, the Sisters have developed numerous educational, social services, and hospital institutions steeped in the Dominican tradition of preaching. They have served the community in the five boroughs, Long Island, and beyond for 165 years.
This year the Sisters will host their annual Dominican Gala virtually on October 23, 2020. We are proud to honor Suzanne Pugh, RN, Director of Emergency Services at NY Presbyteria Hospital Queens, and Sister Flor Buruca, OP founder of the St. Catherine of Siena after-school program and summer camp in Sol Naciente, El Salvador. Both of whom will be recognized for their extraordinary work.
Proceeds from the Gala benefit The Congregation’s Ministry Support Fund, which was established to assist many of the Sisters’ ministries in need of additional funding.
