Description

For the past ten years, we have presented The Minty Awards, which honors the dedication and talent of the theatre students in Staten Island high schools. We have donated over $90,000 to our schools’ Theatre Departments, in the hopes of increasing the professionalism and output from these schools. On behalf of the Board of Directors of The Minty Organization for the Performing Arts, I thank you for your support to our cause.

On January 16, 2020, we are holding our annual Minty Awards Dinner Gala, where will salute our Theatre Educators, Alumni, and Supporters of Staten Island High Schools, as well as support the current generation of High School Thespians. The Gala will take place at Nicotra’s Ballroom at 7pm.

At the Gala, we will be presenting the Community Enrichment Award to Charlie Siedenburg, the Distinguished Alumni Award to Peggy Lee Brennan (SJHA ’71), and the organization’s highest honor, the Carl W. Lesch Memorial Award for Educator of the Arts to Andrew Monteleone. In conjunction with our tenth anniversary, several alumni of the Minty Awards will also receive the Spirit of St. Genesius Award, in recognition of their achievements and being exemplary ambassadors of their schools and Minty Organization. Lastly, two students will also receive the Msgr. Joseph C. Ansaldi Scholarship, named after the late chaplain of The Minty Organization.

As we look to raise funds for this year’s Minty Awards Ceremony and further endeavors with our high school students, we are asking if you would consider donating items to be raffled off at our Gala. Please note that any amount and any item you are able to donate will be greatly appreciated, and you will receive proper attribution in our program that evening.
