The Berwick Public Library, located in Berwick, ME, will be holding its annual summer reading program from June 26th through August 8th. This year’s program is themed Imagine Your Story and is open to kindergarten through high school students from our community. Throughout the summer, participants will earn one raffle ticket for each book they read or fun activity they complete from a list provided by the library. Those tickets can be used to enter for a chance to win prizes throughout the summer.

Our summer reading program is not a fundraiser. Raffle tickets for prizes cannot be purchased; they can only be earned by reading and participating in our summer reading program activities. We hope that having fun prizes will motivate children to continue reading throughout the summer months and beat the “summer slide,” when learning loss tends to happen because of children being out of school. Last year’s program, when we first introduced special prizes, was such a success that we had double the usual number of participants and, all together, they read more than 5 times as many books as they had the previous summer!
