AFFCF has served children and youth in foster care throughout Arizona for more than 37 years. This fall, we aim to raise $40,000 through our Slider Throwdown. Our annual event brings together six to eight local food trucks to compete for the title of Best Slider. AFFCF raises funds from ticket sales and a silent auction.

This year's Throwdown takes place on November 14, 2021 at High Street in North Phoenix, and is our biggest event of the year. The silent auction provides an opportunity for businesses to connect directly to multiple audiences (families and children, foodies, shopaholics and music lovers) all at once. It's a win-win-win situation!

Businesses win when event goers see companies that share their passion. Kids in foster care like Wyatt win by getting to take karate lessons and Alaina wins by getting a bicycle of her own. Young adults like Aaron win by finding stable housing and access to support services. And Sarah wins by having funds to attend college and pursue her professional goals.

Admission is $40 and includes samples of all sliders, one lemonade drink, one frozen yogurt coupon, two (non-alcoholic) drink tickets and a People's Choice Ballot to choose their favorite slider. The event also includes live music from the Josh West Trio and a new and improved Kidzone with skateboarding fun, a drone experience, a petting zoo, face painting, arts and crafts and more!
