About Chicago Voyagers:
Chicago Voyagers is a Schaumburg-based nonprofit specializing in outdoor adventure therapy programs for Chicago-area teens, most of whom have experienced childhood trauma and adversity. By partnering with area schools and community groups, we work with youths throughout the school year with a specific focus on helping teens work through difficulties at school and home. Typical outcomes reported by our school partners include overall reductions in disciplinary referrals and increases in collaborative and responsible behaviors. Our programs allow teens to challenge themselves and develop the skills and tenacity needed to face life's obstacles and successfully transition into healthy adulthood. For more information, please visit our website.
About the Adventure Challenge:
Our annual Adventure Challenge is an obstacle race with both physical and mental challenges accessible to people of all ages and abilities. While this event is Chicago Voyagers' largest outdoor fundraiser of the year, the event also serves to illustrate and raise awareness of some of the challenges our program youth may encounter on an outdoor adventure program. The funds we raise through this event help to support our programming throughout 2023, ranging from afternoon mountain biking or canoe programs to longer five-day backpacking expeditions during the summer. All programs and equipment are offered to our students free of charge and are funded by grants and fundraising events.
