Food Exploration and Discovery (DBA: Food ED) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization collaborating with Los Angeles County communities and schools to construct and sustain edible education sites hosting programs on ecosystem stewardship, healthy living, and environmental innovation and entrepreneurship. Our mission is to create programs that utilize gardens to inspire community building, problem solving, and stewardship rather than just growing food. Each year we hold an online auction to raise support for our 10 garden and compost hubs. These hubs are at school and community gardens where we education over 2500 students and hundreds of adults each year about sustainability and how they can be empowered to make healthy life changes and be more environmentally aware in their neighborhoods. Our goal this year is to raise $15,000 for garden supplies, tools and more so we can continue to build amazing environmental programs.
