On Saturday, August 19, 2023, FACE Foundation will host San Diego Animal Hero Awards at BRICK in Liberty Station. This first-of-its-kind gala event will honor extraordinary animals, people, nonprofits, and businesses in our community. Proceeds from San Diego Animal Hero Awards go directly to helping pets in need of life-saving emergency care.

The Foundation for Animal Care and Education (FACE Foundation) was founded in 2006 by board-certified veterinarians and concerned community members who had witnessed pets with treatable conditions losing their lives because of the financial constraints of their owners. 

To date, FACE has saved more than 3,900 sick and injured pets at risk of being relinquished to shelters and/or euthanized because their owners were unable to afford critical medical care. FACE also supports a robust community outreach initiative that provides pet food and supplies to low-income families and individuals who are desperate to care for their beloved pets while also struggling with food insecurity or experiencing homelessness. In addition, FACE provides free and low-cost humane education classes for local youth through partnerships with schools, libraries, and other nonprofit organizations.
