Walk/Run for GBS-CIDP Foundation InternationalMay 23, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
The Walk and Roll for GBS|CIDP is a signature walk designed to increase public awareness and to raise support for the mission of the
GBS|CIDP Foundation International. The Walk and Roll is part of a national fundraising program by the GBS|CIDP Foundation International, but is organized locally by Megan Kaump.
GBS is a very rare autoimmune disorder that affects the body’s peripheral nerves located outside the brain and spinal cord. The condition can present suddenly, beginning with numbness or tingling in the extremities, and progress to total paralysis within a matter of hours. GBS affects both genders, all ages, and all ethnic groups. Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP,) is characterized by progressive weakness and sensory loss in the patient’s arms and legs. CIDP usually develops over a course of 6-to-10 weeks and occurs on both sides of the body. CIDP is frequently not self-limiting and, if left untreated, may progress to wheelchair dependence.
Walk & Roll is the Foundation’s signature community events designed to create awareness of GBS, CIDP and Multifocal Motor Neuropathy (MMN.). Walk & Roll is a free event held in cities all across the US and bring together patients, family members and caregivers.
