Description

The United Way of Greater Toronto (UWGT) is the largest non-governmental funder and supporter of social services in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). For nearly 45 years, employees at the Region of Peel have been raising funds to support United Way through an annual United Campaign. Funds raised support individuals and families living in poverty in our communities.

Statistics indicate that more people than ever are using food banks and mental health services. Shelters are currently running at 250% capacity. Asylum seekers are grossly underfunded. We are turning people away from shelters for the first time in our history.

Peel Region is on the front lines of these crises. United Way Greater Toronto is one of our most important partners because they are uniquely positioned to meet needs where they are greatest, collaborate to align efforts for maximum impact to drive long-lasting change, and ensure that essential community services are available to low-income residents right where they live.

In 2023, our Employee Campaign raised $239,227. Our annual United Way pledge funds Campaign reaches more than 5,000 employees. The continued success of our fundraising campaign depends on contributions from sponsors who generously donate items to support the Campaign.

Every person in every community deserves the opportunities, access, and connections they need to build a good life – regardless of their income, neighbourhood, or social identity.
