The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is a non-profit organization that has been a resource for the community and a shelter for homeless animals since 1946.  Through adoptions, spay and neuter assistance, education, community service and outreach, the AWLA plays a key role in promoting responsible pet care across Northern Virginia. 

The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria invites you to participate in our upcoming annual Paws in the Park event on October 13, 2024. Last year, we welcomed over 4,000 attendees, and this year promises an even larger turnout!

Paws in the Park is a full-day festival held at Oronoco Bay Park (100 Madison St.), featuring free admission for all. This event plays a crucial role in advancing our mission to foster compassion for all living beings, provide shelter for animals in need, and advocate for responsible pet ownership within our community.

Attendees can look forward to a variety of activities including food, drinks, entertainment, and the opportunity to meet adoptable animals from over a dozen rescue organizations.

As part of our fundraising efforts, we will host a silent auction, with proceeds directly supporting AWLA's initiatives to aid pets and people in our community, and to promote education and compassion towards all living beings. Last year, our inaugural silent auction raised over $15,000, and we aim to surpass that amount this year.

A donation would add excitement to our silent auction, helping us make a significant impact through each bid. Your support will be recognized on our silent auction platform and we will provide a letter acknowledging your donation for tax purposes.
