Description

Back by popular demand! The 8th Annual Stand Up for MORE will be held on Friday, April 26th at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds. We are so excited to be able to showcase terrifically talented top-notch acts benefiting MORE and the El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce!

The Producer and MC of this Comedy Night is Scott Edwards. Scott is the man who brought comedy to Northern California in 1980, owned Laughs Unlimited for over 20 years, and worked with the best – Jay Leno, Dana Carvey, Jerry Seinfeld, and many more.

Headlining for this evening will be Dennis Blair. He is described as a Renaissance man. He is an accomplished screenwriter, award-winning songwriter, and comedic actor. Yet he is probably best known for the caustic observations and musical satires of his live comedy performances. Early in his career, Rodney Dangerfield made him his protégé, and together they toured the United States and Canada for over three years. He has also opened for a multitude of celebrities such as Tom Jones, The Beach Boys, Melissa Manchester, Joan Rivers, Elayne Boosler, George Wallace, Gloria Estefan, Joy Behar, Jackie Mason and Norm MacDonald. He also toured exclusively with the late, great George Carlin for over eighteen years. Movies, television, radio, theaters, comedy clubs, comedy albums, music albums and award-winning songs, a book, a play…has he had his fill? “As long as there are jokes and songs to be written,” says Dennis, “and as long as my family demands to be fed, I’ll be around.”

We are excited to also feature the hilarious Derrick Leonard. He is a Bay Area native and a past winner of the "Wendy's What's Funny Comedy Competition." He is the creator and host of 'Baby Boomers Got Talent' show.  His observational dry style of humor has been described as a cross between Bob Newhart and Calvin Coolidge. A Vallejoan via San Francisco, Reno, and San Jose, he joined the stand-up comedy ranks in the 1990s. He is bound to make us all laugh!

In addition to the wonderful entertainment, the night will also include a delicious catered meal by John Sanders of Old Town Grill, a raffle, Lucky Liquor Game, and live auction.
