Description

On behalf of Fred Wells Tennis and Education Center (FWTEC), we invite you to partner with us in expanding opportunities for under-resourced youth in our community by donating a gift card or item for our online auction to support our 2025 Pro-Am Showcase & Fundraiser. The Pro-Am will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2025, and promises to be an exciting evening filled with competitive tennis, a cocktail hour, a buffet dinner, a giving moment, and an online silent auction. Your generous donation will help us continue providing FREE high-quality youth development programming to more than 2,000 youth annually while also giving your business exposure within our thriving tennis community of 4,500+ players and 300+ online auction bidders.

Who Are We?
The Fred Wells Tennis and Education Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that uses the sport of tennis to promote personal growth, well-being, and positive development in our communities, with a particular emphasis on engaging youth with limited access to resources. Located on Minneapolis Park Board land near Fort Snelling, FWTEC operates a 9-court public indoor tennis facility that engages tennis players ages 5 to 95. In addition, over 75% of the young people who participate in our free TennisWorks youth development pathway reside primarily in Areas of Concentrated Poverty within the Powderhorn, Phillips, and Whittier neighborhoods of South Minneapolis.

What is TennisWorks?
Our TennisWorks program, designed for students in grades 3-12, combines tennis with academic enrichment, leadership development, and community service opportunities, emphasizing life skills and community building. In 2024, our program provided access to over 2,000 unique players, including 800 new participants, with free programming and transportation. The support of individual donors, grant funders, and corporate and community partners like you makes it possible for us to offer over 45 weeks of TennisWorks programming at no cost.
