Other Event Type for Oil Region Music Preservation Museum/ DeBence Antique Music WorldJul 11, 2025 7:00 PM to Nov 07, 2025 7:00 PM

The DeBence Museum is seeking in-kind donations to raffle in support of our ‘Kid’s Day at the Museum’ initiative. This program will support a full day of programs, activities, and education targeted specifically to children. The goal of this event is to use music and the museum’s collection as an accessible medium through which kids will learn STEM principles and blend these with arts education. The museum’s mission is to continue to encourage music education and this program will ensure that, even when schools may lack arts education programs, the children in our community will still be able to learn and benefit from this education. In summary the day will include a ‘touch an instrument’ session in which kids are encouraged to try out different musical instruments, free museum tours, as well as a 5 to 10-year-old and 13 to 18-year-old workshop and associated arts activity. These workshops will utilize the Library of Congress funded curriculum through TeachRock which is specifically designed to connect science and art and encourage creativity in learning for kids. The primary cost associated with these workshops is that of supplies. The museum will provide staff for facilitating the workshops and will provide free museum tours for all kids 18 years and younger on the designated day. We are seeking funding for this programming as we are a small museum operating on a limited budget and we hope you will consider our request.
