Description

VOICES (Voices of Identity and Culturally Empowered Students) is a student-led conference for students in grades 9-12 and educators of color at Los Angeles area private schools to come together, build community, and invigorate diversity, equity, and inclusion at their schools.

VOICES is a student-led conference organized by Axis Student Interns, a group of 16 high school students of color at Axis Partner Schools.

Community Ties is the theme of the conference, highlighting the importance of building strong bonds among BIPOC students and educators to foster a sense of belonging and catalyze positive change in independent school communities.

The day-long program will feature a keynote speaker, student panel, educator panel, and discussion groups aimed at deepening conversation and understanding among BIPOC students and educators.

A key outcome of this event is for students and educators to leave with actionable, community-based strategies for strengthening ties between and among BIPOC communities on their campuses.

The long-term impact of the conference is to establish a culture of social responsibility at independent schools by building community and leadership skills among students of color.

Sponsor logos will be prominently displayed on the Axis website, event signage, and all digital materials. Corporate sponsors will have the opportunity to volunteer at the event with setup and registration, as well as engage with students.
