"The Wildwood YMCA has been a significant part of Eli’s life since he was 5 years old. We started Eli in YMCA camp to build his endurance for all day kindergarten. They had a wonderful support program which provided a one on one camp counselor for kiddos with
special needs. We worked closely with the camp director and Eli’s counselor to
provide visuals to help communicate expectations and appropriate camp behaviors and it worked. Eli had a wonderful stretch of about 6 years of YMCA summer camp. He build up his
endurance, made friends, went on field trips each week and had a blast. We stayed connected with the Wildwood YMCA via the Albert Pujols Family Foundation Garden Gate program. This wonderful program teaches the kids where their food comes from, how to
plant, maintain and harvest a garden. I recall day dreaming in the YMCA camp
parent pick up line about how wonderful it would be if Eli could someday work
here. This dream came true for us. They wanted try the program out with one person first, and they selected Eli. We were thrilled at this opportunity. We are beyond grateful for the caring, thoughtful people at the YMCA for providing a safe place in our community for Eli to grow up.
