Have you heard about Northside College Prep?  Yes? Maybe?  Let me take a moment to introduce you to this remarkable institution. 

Northside College Prep (NCP) is a highly regarded Chicago Public Schools (CPS) High School established in 1999. Since its inception, NCP has cultivated a reputation as one of the best schools in the nation, consistently recognized for its academic rigor and its diverse and talented student body. Below are just a few of NCP’s most recent accolades: 

#1 High School in Chicago - Chicago Magazine (2024)
#2 High School in Illinois and #35 in the Nation - US News & World Report (2024)
National Blue Ribbon School from the US Department of Education (most recently 2020)
What makes NCP truly special is not just these accolades, but the incredible, well-rounded students who achieve them. Our amazing students are approximately 65 percent minority, approximately 40 percent low income, and approximately 13 percent special education. Approximately 90 percent of our students participate in a school sport — the highest percentage in all of CPS!  These students matriculate to and thrive at top colleges and universities around the country and even the world!

Northside students are able to achieve these successes despite working on computers that are, in some cases, older than the students themselves; while wearing mismatched, worn athletic uniforms; and while using outdated and broken equipment. Our students deserve better. 

That’s where you come in.

For NCP’s 25th anniversary, Friends of Northside — a parent run, volunteer nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting NCP — is planning a large celebration for March 2025. This event will honor the first 25 years of NCP and lay the foundation for the next 25 years of excellence. To mark this milestone, we are reaching out to community members and leaders like you. We know you must receive a number of assistance requests, but please know we would be grateful and honored for your support. 

How you make an immediate difference:

Contribute an item to our silent auction. Can you donate a product or unique experience? 
Make a one-time monetary donation. 
Your tax-deductible donation will be used to raise funds to 

Purchase 40 new state-of-the-art computers for our extremely dated computer lab; 
support three full-time staff positions; 
provide mental health support programs for our students; and 
upgrade and support our athletic and academic teams and our fine arts programs.
