Description

The Benefit Bash, formerly known as the Benefit Brunch, was created by a parent volunteer, Eileen Bennin, more than twenty years ago. This event has raised more than $3,000,000 in support of Glenkirk’s programs over the years.

The Benefit Bash has welcomed such guest speakers as former Senator Hillary Clinton, Tipper Gore, Judy Markey, Scott Turow, Dr. James Phillips, Rob Johnson, WTTW’s Dan Protess, Hy Speck, and Emmy Nominee Ron Engler.

The Benefit Bash Committee is dedicated to sustaining and expanding Glenkirk’s award-winning programs, Next Generation Services, Home Improvements, and Transportation.

A main attraction of the Bash continues to be its grand raffle of over $25,000 in raffle items. Each year, many contributors purchase raffle tickets even if they are unable to attend the event. Prize packages range in value from $100 to $2,500.

The success of the Bash would not be possible without the kindness and generosity of the many individuals, local businesses and corporations who have lent their support to further Glenkirk’s mission.

This year, the Benefit Bash will support:

• Next Generation Day Services (NGS). This program has set the standard for meaningful, activity-driven, community-based programming. Participants engage in volunteerism, attend fitness classes, explore the arts, and frequent local parks, libraries, and museums. NGS currently operates out of two locations in Highland Park and Glenview, with plans to expand to Mundelein in 2022.

• Community Employment. This program provides job-preparedness, job placement, and job coaching services to our program participants. Beyond initial job placement, our staff also provides ongoing on-the-job supports to ensure participants have long-term success in their positions.

• Recreational Enrichment. A balanced life in the community includes taking advantage of all the things life can offer! From park district memberships to mini golf and the Lake County Fair, recreational activities provide food, fun, and friendship to adults with disabilities.
