Description

The Jack Costello Boxing Club is a non-profit boxing club for kids and adults ages 9 and up. We are located in Tacony, in Northeast Philadelphia. The JCBC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that improves the health, self-esteem and character of Philadelphia youth through structured athletic training. We want kids to focus their energy on positive interactions and to avoid getting in trouble. By providing a safe environment, we hope to instill confidence, discipline, accountability, humility, respect for others and most importantly respect for themselves.

 

Our gym is 100% non-profit. All of our staff members and trainers volunteer their time. We rely on the donations of our supporters and community members to provide the necessary equipment and supplies needed. It is only through the support and donations that the JCBC has been open since 1996 and continues to thrive today.

 

Each year our gym holds an Annual Fundraiser which typically covers most of the expenses for the year. However, this year’s event is even more important! In 2020, we had to close our doors at 4900 Longshore Ave. Ten months later, the building in which we were located could no longer have us. We had called it home for 25 years. The search for a new space began, after many months and seeing many buildings, we found an old bank that was a perfect fit. With assistance from generous local contractors and donated union labor, we turned an old bank into our new home. We had our grand re-opening on November 12th 2022. As you can imagine, this has been a huge endeavor and has come with great cost. This year’s event will be held on April 22nd at DC 21 Hall at 2980 Southampton Road, in Philadelphia and we are looking for your support. Tickets are $45.00 and can be purchased ahead of time as well as at the door. If you are unable to attend, but would still like to make a donation, we would greatly appreciate it. If a monetary donation is not something you are interested in, we are also in need of gift baskets and/or gift certificates for our basket auction. Every little bit helps us get closer to our goal of continuing to provide a positive outlet for our youth! As always, thank you for your support now and over the past 27 years!
