2nd Annual Brilliant Mind Gala
Gala/Party for Silence the ShameMay 14, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Silence the Shame, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and educating communities on mental health and wellness. This year we are proud to announce the 2nd Annual “A Brilliant Mind Gala,” on for May 14, 2022 in Atlanta, GA. Branded as the Night of Hope, the event will be a celebration to raise $100K for empowering mental wellness in the community and honor people making a difference in mental health and wellness.
May 5th is National Silence the Shame Day. On this day, we focus on ending the stigma of mental health by bringing awareness about the importance of mental health and wellness. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, about one in every five individuals in the U.S. struggle daily with their mental health. Yet less than 50% of people get help for their mental health. Every mental illness can affect someone differently. It is important to remember that mental illness is treatable, and recovery is possible.
2021 was a challenging year for all of us; the amount of people suffering from mental health challenges has increased considerably. The number of people looking for help with anxiety and depression has skyrocketed, with more people reporting frequent thoughts of suicide and self-harm. Young people are struggling the most with their mental health. Silence the Shame, Inc. will continue to offer the necessary tools and resources to improve mental health outcomes worldwide. But we need your help!
Over the last five years, Silence the Shame has hosted community outreach events serving homeless shelters and low-resource students with wellness tools and promoting social connectedness through No Reservations Needed and Backpack Blessings. We have created branded awareness to erase mental health stigma and improve mental health outcomes for Black communities through digital content and forums such as Silence the Shame Podcast and Community Conversations. We provide wellness trainings and tools so people can identify signs and symptoms of mental illness as well as de-escalation techniques if someone is experiencing a crisis through programs including the Soundtrack of mental Health. This year we are excited to continue our mental health education programs to improve mental health literacy among vulnerable populations. Through these programs, we aim to engage individuals to share their mental health wellness, healing, and recovery experience to promote whole health in underserved communities across the globe.
