Description

On November 7, 2019, the Young Lawyers Committee of the Federal Communications Bar Association (FCBA) and the FCBA Foundation will hold their 30th Annual Charity Auction at the Sphinx Club at the Almas Temple in Washington, DC. This annual charity auction is one of Washington, DC’s premier “must-attend” events for the communications industry and has raised more than $1.8 million for organizations in the DC metro area over the past 29 years.  The event is open to the public, and we are once again expecting a full house of attendees for an exciting evening that features a live auction hosted by a professional auctioneer, silent auction, and raffle drawings. This year’s auction will benefit two great local charities — The Modern Classrooms Project, which empowers educators to meet the unique needs of every learner through an instructional model that leverages educational technology and broadband/WiFi connections to ensure that every student has unlimited access to knowledge, learns at his/her own unique pace, and truly masters each skill before moving on to the next, and the FCBA Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports communications-related, educational, and other community service projects, particularly those directed towards children and students. Auction proceeds will support The Modern Classrooms Project’s incoming group of teaching fellows as they redesign their classrooms to better serve over 2,000 students from low-income communities in the DC area.  The FCBA Foundation – a non-profit organization that supports communications-related, educational, and other community service projects, particularly those directed towards children and students – will use proceeds from the auction to support its annual scholarship program.  We greatly appreciated Round House Theatre’s donation of a voucher for two tickets to a performance for our auction last year, which was invaluable to the success of the event.  We are hopeful that we can count on you to donate a voucher for two tickets to a performance during the 2019-2020 season for this year’s auction.   Your tax-deductible donation will not only help this year’s auction beneficiaries but will also provide you with additional valuable exposure in the community.  As a donor, Round House Theatre will be acknowledged in the charity auction “prize book” provided to all attendees, recognized when prizes are awarded, and recognized in the FCBA’s monthly newsletter that is distributed to more than 2,000 professionals. You may also use a donor’s table at the auction for advertisements/promotional materials and/or arrange for other promotional opportunities with the FCBA. I recognize that there are many demands on your kindness, but hope that you will strongly consider this request.  I can be reached by email at vbarrish@comcast.net or by phone at (202) 271-4205 with any questions regarding this request.  Thank you for your consideration, Valerie Barrish, Auction Subcommittee Co-Chair. The FCBA Foundation’s tax identification number is 51-0334407; its website is http://www.fcba.org/foundation/.  Information about the Modern Classrooms Project can be found at https://modernclassrooms.org/.
