Description

Dear Local Business Partner,

The Young Lawyers Committee of the Federal Communications Bar Association (FCBA) and the FCBA Foundation is proud to host its 34th Annual Charity Auction on Thursday, October 26, 2023, from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. ET. at The Madison Hotel in downtown Washington, DC. To date, our annual charity auction has raised more than $2 million for philanthropic organizations in the DC metro area over the past 33 years. FCBA is delighted to collect proceeds from this year’s Charity Auction and raise awareness to benefit two amazing, local non-profit organizations – Generation Hope and the FCBA Foundation.

Generation Hope strives to ensure all young parents who are currently enrolled as students and their children have the opportunity to succeed. This non-profit helps its beneficiaries to experience economic mobility with direct support to collegiate teen parents and their children through holistic, two-generation programming. Support to the Auction and Generation Hope’s mission will assist with tuition support and emergency funding for program participants. Generation Hope Scholars have impressively graduated at double the rate for low-income college students and eight times the rate for single mothers nationwide. By participating in this year’s auction, you would help support Generation Hope’s wrap-around services for teen parents and their children. For young parents, Generation Hope’s Scholar Program provides mentoring, tuition assistance, a peer community, and other vital, collaborative services. Generation Hope also serves children of scholars with the Next Generation Academy, which provides robust literacy, academic, and social-emotional support that prepares children for
early education opportunities.

Additionally, support of the auction will assist the FCBA Foundation in supporting its annual scholarship program. Auction proceeds will be used to provide financial assistance and laptop computers to DC public high school students to help them thrive in college. Each year, the Foundation reviews applications from local high school students of diverse backgrounds and selects scholarship recipients based on their financial need, academic achievements, and service to school and community. This year, the FCBA Foundation was able to provide new laptops and $167,000 in scholarships to 24 DC high school students. In order to make this event a success, we need your help! FCBA is seeking donations of unique items to include in our auction to help support these two charities. Your tax-deductible donation will not only help this year’s auction beneficiaries but will also provide you the valuable opportunity to be introduced to the community. As a prize donor, FCBA is happy to acknowledge your business both in the prize description on the Auction’s webpage and will recognize your business on the night of the event.

We are excited to work together! If you are interested in donating an item online, please visit https://fcba.ejoinme.org/2023Donationform. All donations can be emailed to Janeen Wynn at janeen@fcba.org or mailed to Kasey McGee at Lukas, LaFuria, Lantor & Sachs, LLP, 8350 Broad Street, Suite 1450 Tysons, VA 22102.

We thank you for your consideration and support, we appreciate your help in making this event a success.

Thank you,
34th FCBA Charity Auction Committee
