Description

MRPA members help provide an opportunity for all Massachusetts residents to lead healthy, active lifestyles. MRPA now boasts a membership of over 400 professionals in cities and towns across Massachusetts.  Our members represent agencies at all levels of the recreation and parks, including public, private, therapeutic, commercial, and educational.  The MRPA takes an active part in promoting and supporting programs such as youth sports, after school programs, youth and adult wellness, aquatics, field maintenance, and much more.

We are celebrating our 39th annual State Conference and Trade Show at the Four Points by Sheraton in Norwood, MA on March 19-20, 2024.  The MRPA Silent Auction is a popular tradition at the conference.  The proceeds from the 39th Annual MRPA State Conference Silent Auction will benefit the William C. and Carol Kilcoyne Grant as well as fund scholarships for recreation professionals.

The William C. and Carol S. Kilcoyne Continuing Education Grant was established in 2004 to recognize the significant contribution the Kilcoyne’s have made to the development and continuity of MRPA. Mr. Kilcoyne is a past president and long-standing treasurer of MRPA with over 27 years of service as the park & Recreation Director for the town of Wayland, Massachusetts. Mrs. Kilcoyne was the Association’s first Executive Secretary, serving in that capacity for twenty-one years. To honor the Kilcoyne’s commitment to the profession, the MRPA established this annual program to assist professionals pursuing ongoing professional development in the park and recreation industry.
