The Community's mission is to transform the lives of those formerly incarcerated by correcting the narrative around them and helping them realize their full potential. Founded by Shannon Ross in 2014, The Community provides a vital lifeline for formerly incarcerated individuals to reintegrate into communities, live dignified lives, and be a beacon of hope for other Justice-impacted people. Partnering with organizations like the Milwaukee Bucks, the United Way, and Bader Philanthropies, we have been able to grow our two pillars of support: Pre-Entry work, and the Correcting the Narrative Award Ceremony. One of the biggest successes for The Community is highlighting those that have successfully reentered society and contributed to their communities and jobs. Each year we have companies and community partners nominate formerly incarcerated individuals to receive these awards. This year our annual award ceremony will be held on August 31, 2023 at Turner Hall.
