Description

As a respected local community business, we wanted to reach out and introduce ourselves. Sustainability for Scholarships is a NY State certified non-profit organization that provides local college scholarships for student veterans and veteran dependents by way of conservation projects and sound environmental practices.

As the organization continues to grow, so have our ambitions of supporting more veteran families. While bottle and can collections remain a core fundraising component for us, we rely heavily on the generosity of those who share in their appreciation for our mission to support expanded educational opportunities for our local veteran community.

Bi-annually $1,111 awards go to student veterans attending college in the Rochester and Syracuse areas. The Donald Matina Scholarship was named in honor of our Founder and CEO’s grandfather, a World War II veteran who bravely stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. Uptick in support for Sustainability for Scholarships allowed us to create a second scholarship fund named for our Founder’s other grandfather, Frank Fantanza, who also served our country during WWII.

We are hosting our 3rd Annual Giving Day on April 20th.  Last year was a huge success with us raising over $4,000, which is about 4 scholarships. We are hoping your organization would donate some giftcards, donate and/or come to support the event. We hope that your organization will consider supporting our mission and together support our veteran community.

If you have additional questions or would like to further discuss, please feel free to contact Derek Matina (CEO and Founder), at 585-755-1151 or info@sforscharity.org.
