The 48th Annual Awards Recognition Event of Disabled Resources Center, Inc. (DRC) will be held on Thursday evening, July 25, 2024, at The Grand Event Center, Long Beach, California. DRC’s annual gala not only honors advocacy, but also presents academic scholarships. Individuals and organizations in the community who demonstrate advocacy of independent living for people with disabilities are honored in three categories: the Jerry Stein Memorial Independent Living Award; the Civic Leadership Award; and the Community Service Award. Several current DRC volunteers will each be honored with the Ellard and Foafoa Volunteer of the Year Award. Scholarships will be presented in three categories: the Outstanding Military Veteran Scholarship; two scholarships for students with disabilities attending Long Beach City College; and two scholarships for students with disabilities attending California State University, Long Beach. All proceeds realized from donations of items for the Opportunity Ticket Drawing and the Silent Auction will go to support the Center’s programs and services in the community. Everything is free of charge to DRC consumers. Donor organizations will be listed in the Event Program, on DRC’s website (http://drcinc.org), and in DRC’s Quarterly Newsletter.
