Description

Prevention is Key (PIK) started 34 years ago as a primary prevention agency in Morris County, New Jersey. In 1989, each of the 21 counties had their own prevention agency. Focusing on adolescents, senior citizens, and military families, providing programming and resources for prevention of substance use disorder. 9 years ago Prevention is Key opened the Center for Addiction Recovery, Education, and Success, in response to the opioid epidemic. PIK has spread its reach to providing services to 8 of the 21 counties in New Jersey. All the work that we do is evidence based, cutting edge, and focuses on meeting the individual where they are at.

On May 22, 2024, Prevention is Key will be hosting our 7th Annual Roads to Recovery Dinner/Fundraiser. This event is a night of recognition, celebration, and fun. The fundraiser is a tricky-tray event, where we draw winners for the prizes at the end of the evening. The goal of this event is to raise unrestricted dollars for the recovery community and our prevention programs that focus on adolescents, senior citizens and military families. With our agency being grant funded, we are restricted on what we can spend our funds on. The purpose of this fundraiser is to provide for the community what we cannot through our grants. For example, most federal grants do not allow for food to be purchased. Healthy foods is an important factor in all of our lives. With the ability to have unrestricted dollars, we can aid in providing families and individuals with comfort knowing that they can have healthy food on the table, or even food at all. We are able to utilize the funds to assist with co-pays at doctor’s visits and medications prescribed by the office, admission into a sober living facility, security deposit to move into a new apartment, and more.
