For the second time, eight to ten girls from Women of the Dream will travel with CEO Leslie Morris to her alma mater, Simmons University, in Boston, MA.  This 3-day trip will provide the opportunity for these young ladies, all from the poverty-stricken city of Camden, NJ, to participate in a leadership conference with successful, high-profile women of color.  The conference will accomplish the following goals:  (1) To expose the girls to an environment beyond the city of Camden; (2) To expose the girls to a college environment and a women's college to assist in their college selection; (3) To expose the girls to a professional leadership conference where they will learn what a leadership conference entails, what it means to be a leader, and the strategies that are used to reach leadership status in the workplace and beyond; (4) To provide the opportunity for the girls to use what they have learned about leadership at the conference through participation in the conference; and (5) To expose the girls to successful women of color who can serve as mentors and advisors to the girls on their journey to success.  We, as a society, cannot expect our young people to make good choices if they don't know what choices exist.  Girl power involves exposing our girls to the limitless opportunities that await them so they can make informed decisions.
