Great Lakes Academy is an educational gem located in the South Chicago neighborhood. GLA was founded in 2014 with the goal of bringing educational equity to Chicago. Our mission is to prepare all students with the fundamental academic skills, critical thinking ability, and strength of character to excel in high school, college and a career of their choice, regardless of socio-economic status or race.

GLA relies heavily on philanthropic support to provide our scholars with a high-quality education. Every year, we host our BE GREAT benefit that directly supports our scholars and their education.  This year, our annual BE GREAT Benefit is Thursday, May 11th and will be supporting GLA initiatives like our after-school and athletics programming.
