Description

The 8th Annual Fast & Furriest 5K/1M will be held in Walkersville, MD, on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Heritage Farm Park. During the 2022 event, we raised over $22,000 (net); welcomed over 250 people in-person, and another 100+ virtually.  We welcome runners, runners with dogs, walkers and walkers with dogs, families and children.  The event is advertised to over 22,000 social media followers!

Operations Paws for Homes (OPH) is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to saving the lives of dogs of all breeds from high kill shelters. Since 2010, OPH has operated in Maryland, DC, Virginia and southern Pennsylvania consisting of a network of volunteers and foster homes. We do not have a facility nor do we receive funding from local, state or federal sources. Our partner shelters have little to no funding or financial help from their local communities....so our help is critical in their efforts to save lives. Without rescue, innocent animals are led to the ‘back door.’ Our community spay and neuter program.  We encourage adopters to round up their adoption fees to help us provide that service to unaltered animals free of charge.

We are dedicated to saving lives….we hope you will join us.  We thought 2021 was a difficult year but 2022 has proven itself to be just as difficult.  Decreases in adoptions due to people going back to work (and returning dogs) has had significant impacts on shelters and rescues everywhere.  Shelters are being forced to make very difficult decisions.   We hope you can consider helping us help those who cannot help themselves
