I am writing to invite your support for The Story of Our Schools, a DC-based non-profit that empowers local students to research the history of their school and the surrounding community. Their findings are then transformed into a museum-quality exhibit that is permanently installed on school grounds. By sharing our DC school stories, we not only provide 21st century learning opportunities for our youth, but we also instill a sense of pride in our long-time residents as well as educate our newcomers.

We are currently working with H.D. Woodson High School and Bruce-Monroe Elementary School at Park View. You can read about our last exhibit installation at Eastern High School, and the reveal event that engaged the entire school community including current students and families, alumni, and area residents.

We need your help to reach our goal of bringing this exciting work to every school in the District of Columbia! We hope you will consider donating an item or service to our 8th Annual Gala’s silent auction to be held on Saturday June 1, 2024 at the Willard Office Building. Your donation will showcase your commitment to our local community and DC students. Each donor will be prominently recognized in print and online materials at the event, which attracts 200 guests from all over the city.
