I'm reaching out on behalf of Rukundo International, a Gaithersburg, Maryland-based non-profit organization. Rukundo is devoted to providing life-changing educational and economic empowerment programs to more than 1,000 children and women in southwestern Uganda. 

Uganda experienced the longest school closures in the world, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, stretching for almost two calendar years. While the pandemic has caused drastic setbacks for our community, our team has persevered. Thanks to our local staff and donors, we continue to make a difference in the lives of Uganda’s most vulnerable populations. We successfully transitioned to at-home learning and supported over 1,100 vulnerable families with COVID-19 relief aid. Now that our school and other programs have reopened, we are again feeling hopeful and optimistic! 

On October 15th, we expect an audience of 500+ to attend our combined in-person and virtual gala, which will include music, raffles, highlights of our accomplishments, and a silent auction! This event serves as our primary fundraising event of the year. Funds raised from this event will assist us in providing education, sustainable income, and hope to Uganda’s youth.
