Description

Ride for Hope, is a 501(c)(3) ovarian cancer awareness motorcycle ride and celebration, conceived and organized by JuliAnne Scully, a 39-year ovarian cancer survivor. Now in its 9th year, Ride for Hope has grown into an annual community event—with riders from many clubs—and participants and volunteers from the Midwest, who raise money for local women battling ovarian cancer.

Ride for Hope's mission is two-fold. The first is to partner with and help the (National Ovarian Cancer Coalition) spread awareness of the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer, a deadly disease that claims the lives of over 15,000 women annually. (Illinois ranks #6 for the most ovarian cancer deaths.) As an NOCC partner, Ride for Hope is a visible presence in the community, attending women’s health fairs and industry trade shows, and supplying information to local beauty salons, health fairs, schools, and other establishments that cater to women.

Second, Ride for Hope raises funds to directly help local women (ten, to date, nominated through the Ride for Hope website and vetted) who have financial hardships during their ongoing treatment for ovarian cancer. Called the “silent killer” the symptoms of ovarian cancer are often mistaken for other diseases. As there are no screening tests, many cases are diagnosed in the later stages when the cancer has spread to other regions of the body. The Ride for Hope funds help pay for prescriptions, clinical trials, travel to out of area hospitals, food, and medical equipment including wigs, walkers, and wheelchairs. Most women cannot work during treatment and, therefore, lose their insurance.

Our sponsors and donors are prominently featured in articles in local newspaper articles with a reach of over 100,000. Their names are displayed in all social media, in the run up to the event and following in wrap up newspaper articles and social media posts. Banners, posters, flyers, signs, event t-shirts, and programs list the sponsors, as well. Association with this 501(c)3 charity provides our sponsors with representation and presence in the community to a wide range of consumers, who are encouraged to shop and frequent the sponsors brick and mortar and online presence.

Thank you for considering our charity. and helping local women in need.
