Description

Silence the Shame, Inc. (STS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and educating communities on mental health and wellness. May is mental health awareness month.  This year we will kick off our month-long celebration with the inaugural “A Brilliant Mind Gala,” to be held virtually on May 5, 2021, honoring National Radio Host Charlamagne Tha God, Award-Winning DJ D-Nice, Clinical Psychologist Dr. Spirit, and Grammy Award-Winning Singer Michelle Williams.  With special appearances by Singer/Actress Keri Hilson, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Sen. Rev. Raphael G.  Warnock, and Clothing Designer Kenneth Cole.

In addition to our Gala, STS will host an Online Silent Auction beginning May 5, 2021-May 12, 2021, to reach our fundraiser goal of $1 million. The funds will support our wellness programs to increase mental health literacy (recognition of signs and symptoms of mental illness, promotion of mental wellness, and access to behavioral health services and supports) for executives, creatives, and artists in the music industry to reduce the rates of suicide. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, about one in every five individuals in the U.S. struggle with a mental illness each year. However, stigma continues to rise as the number one reason people do not get help.  STS will continue to offer the necessary tools to eliminate stigma, but we need your help!
