It’s a Sensory World! is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that creates a path to inclusion for children with special needs by providing customized, sensory-based programs. We made a promise to the community back in 2007 to provide quality but cost-effective services so families can focus on their child’s future and maintain a positive quality of life for their entire family unit. The USDA estimates it costs a family $250,000 to raise a neurotypical child to age 18. Simultaneously, Autism Speaks estimates the cost to raise a child with Autism or other related disorders to be around $1.4 to $2.4 million through their lifetime. For this reason, every child we serve receives anywhere from 25-40% in tuition assistance, requiring us to raise funds throughout the year for our operational costs.
Throughout the pandemic, It’s a Sensory World! has remained open and operational and continues to serve 70+ zip codes throughout the DFW Metroplex. Our goal is to aid in the inclusion process using unique programming to serve over 300 children annually! The annual Spring fundraising gala serves as one of our most significant fundraising opportunities of the year, drawing more than 300 guests for our dinner and auction and raising an average of $150,000. This year, we are hosting a hybrid event with a virtual and in-person option, along with silent and live auctions, casino games, entertainment, and more that will be an evening of elegance and entertainment!
