Description

The Chesapeake Public Charter School first opened its doors in August of 2007 to over 160 students.  It is the first public charter school to be established in the tri-county area.  Since 2003, the state of Maryland has sanctioned public charter schools that function with greater autonomy and are therefore able to respond more effectively to students’ needs. Each year we continue to grow! We currently have over 440 enrolled and 500 students on our waiting list.

As a public school whose operating budget is supported by state and local allocations, CPCS is tuition free; as a school of choice, CPCS is open to any child residing in St. Mary’s County, reflecting its full diversity.  The Chesapeake Charter School Alliance has entrusted the governance of the school to a Governing Board made up of leaders in education and business.  The mission of the Alliance is to focus on raising funds, not provided by any public sources, to augment local appropriations each year, in order to maintain the level of service that ensures that every student enrolled at the Chesapeake Public Charter School realizes his or her potential by becoming a successful learner and a contributor to the continued prosperity of our St. Mary’s family.

To help us realize this fundraising goal the Chesapeake Charter School Alliance will hold A Vintage Affair - a silent auction on March 1st, 2019 at the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall.  To make this evening a success we need your help!  We are seeking donations of items, services, or monetary contributions and we hope you will strongly consider making a tax-deductible contribution to our event. The funds raised through this event will help to pay for a portion of staffing needs, environmental field trips, artist in residence programs, general school supplies, student elective classes, a salad bar for student lunch periods, and staff professional development.
