The Banquet serves a two-fold purpose: (1) recognition of the 5 scholarship recipients and how their educational accomplishments have helped them establish a positive trajectory in their lives and (2) recognition of several families who have been invited to the banquet because they have lost a family member to unnecessary  gun violence.

The Justus D. Howell College Scholarship Program provides
annual grants to local students pursuing higher education.
We think “outside the box” in order to identify students with
promise and anticipate their unique needs. We welcome
applications from youth who may have underperformed
academically, yet demonstrate a work ethic, talent and
commitment to service that deserves support. Our grants
may be used not only for tuition, but for computers, clothes,
transportation and other needs
