AARBF's Dinner and Dance
Other Event Type for Alisa Ann Ruch Burn FoundationDec 10, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 11:30 PM
It is my pleasure to announce that on December 10th, 2022, the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation (AARBF) will be hosting our 12th Annual AARBF’s Dinner & Dance benefitting the Champ Camp. The Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to enhance the lives of burn survivors and to promote burn prevention education. The Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation works with local hospitals, fire departments, safety coalitions, and other organizations across California to develop innovative programs and services. Prevention education is key to avoiding agonizing burn injuries, while survivor services prove paramount to improving quality of life for courageous burn survivors.
The Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation strives to make our community a better place by engaging in the needs of our community. Our annual Dinner and Dance event has allowed us to raise almost $400,000 for our foundation. All of the proceeds raised goes directly to AARBF to help provide services to burn survivors. One of the Survivor Service programs that the AARBF provides is Champ Camp. Champ Camp is a week-long summer camp for burn injured children ages 5 to 17 years of age. It is held up at Wonder Valley Ranch just east of Fresno in the foothills of Sanger. There are anywhere from 110 to 130 kids who attend camp every year. Champ Camp is an opportunity for these kids to be kids again free from the stares, bullying or teasing that they may receive. Burn injuries are one of the most painful injuries that someone can experience and one of the longest injuries to recover from. On top of the injury itself, comes the emotional injury to the children. Many of the kids that attend camp are severely burned all over their bodies and they struggle every day to live with those scars. They are constantly stared at, made fun of, and made to feel like they are different because of those scars. Champ Camp gives them an opportunity to be with other kids who have experienced the same things, build confidence, feel normal again, and just be a kid without all of the stares. I have been blessed to be a part of this camp for the last 4 years, and have seen how many lives it has changed. The Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation puts on Champ Camp and has been providing services to burn survivors throughout California for 50 years! Our Dinner & Dance consists of a dinner, cash bar, live auction, silent auction and music played throughout the night.
