Description

The event will recognize amazing leaders of crucial movements within our community. The event will take place on October 12, 2023 at the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens. The event will also highlight the organization’s efforts in working with youth and community residents in the Eastside of Los Angeles.

Since 2004, funds raised from our annual special event have directly contributed toward our growth and capacity to advance equity and social justice in the Eastside. We are also able to focus on the development and implementation of innovative programs centered on holistic leadership development, college preparation, and civic engagement. These resources have helped us increase community participation to a total of 1,200 youth and adult resident leaders and to engage nearly 52,000 Eastside voters.

Proceeds from the Adelante Awards will support ICS’s scaled-up efforts to organize youth and families and develop their skills to be leaders for transformation in our communities. We are proud to have recently helped win $1.4 billion over the next two academic school years for LAUSD’s highest need schools to support academic achievement and well being of highest need students. In 2022, ICS supported community mobilization efforts that led to the passage of LA City’s Measure ULA, estimated to generate $900 million a year to address homelessness. And just this year, our youth and parent organizing efforts helped secure a $4.1 billion state budget allocation to support California’s public schools to serve as community schools to holistically invest in students and their families.

Your participation as a Silent Auction donor will enable us to further ICS’s long-term work toward equitable solutions in education and housing. All proceeds from this year’s dinner are critical to developing and supporting the next generation of community leaders to actively advocate for improved conditions for students and families in the Eastside.
