Description

Each year, more than 150,000 guests visit the Family Museum to play and learn. They spend hours in our hands-on exhibit galleries and attending special-themed events. More important are the connections that happen each day between children and families. These memories last a lifetime.  We at the Family Museum feel fortunate to be part of such a vibrant community!

We are excited to once again be hosting our annual Adults Only: Night at the Museum Fundraising event on Saturday, April 23rd at the Family Museum. Local establishments will showcase their amazing food and drink.  Guests will sample these delights as they explore everything the museum has to offer – with a grown-up twist.  We’ll have a deejay, silent auction, and much more.  Who says grown-ups can’t play at the Family Museum?

All the proceeds from this event, along with other funding, will be used for the renovation of our current traveling gallery space.  This 2,000 square foot space is getting a complete makeover! The renovated space will complement our existing galleries and provide more hands-on learning.  What does all this mean -- more fun is coming to the FAmily Museum!

The mission of the Family Museum is to inspire, connect, and strengthen our community by enriching the lives of our children today and expanding their capacity to shape their future. The Family Museum serves a bi-state Iowa-Illinois Quad City Metropolitan area and surrounding communities within a 65-mile radius of the site.  The Family Museum has 19 part-time and 14 full-time staff with more than 250 volunteers who donate an average of 6,000 hours each year.

With 44,000 square feet of programming space, the Museum provides interactive exhibits, various drop-in classes, pre-school classes, school and community outreach, dance classes, and a variety of programs geared towards children eight and under. The Family Museum also provides pre-registered classes such as Spanish, pre-school and kindergarten readiness.
