Dear Friend,
Every March, we honor people like you who make the lifesaving mission of the American Red Cross possible — the
individuals across the country who turn compassion and generosity into action, helping others in times of crisis. Our Red
Cross Month celebration has been an annual tradition since 1943, when President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued the first Red
Cross Month proclamation.
Throughout the month of March, we will highlight the Red Cross programs and services that impact thousands of
individuals and families throughout the Western New York Region. In our most recently concluded fiscal year alone, the
American Red Cross of Western New York:
• Responded to 936 disaster situations, including home fires, and assisted nearly 1600 families
• Held 5,752 blood drives, collecting 122,487 units of blood for patients dependent upon this life-saving gift
• Installed nearly 1,500 smoke alarms in homes throughout the region
• Documented 17 lives saved due to Red Cross-installed smoke alarms and fire safety education
• Provided 3,487 case services to active and retired military members and their families

https://redcrossmonth.givesmart.com. We will also pull back the curtain on some great auction items that anyone can bid
on during our Western New York Regional Online Auction: March Mission Madness, which will support the many
programs and services, like those listed above, that we provide within our communities.
To help support the essential programs and services the Red Cross provides, we ask that you please consider donating an
item or gift certificate to be featured in our auction. In return for your contribution, you will be listed as the donor of the
auction item; receive recognition opportunities through social media and inclusion in our digital event program. Companies
whose gifts are valued at or over $500 will have the opportunity to place a ¼ page advertisement or logo in the digital
event program, as well as logo recognition opportunities on the event website listed as a Friend of the Red Cross

donation form. Confirmation of auction donation items must be received by Friday, March 3, 2022 to ensure ample time
for review and processing in our online auction system. Receipt of auction donation items are due by Friday, March 18,
